New single and music video for Lucill: "Baisser les yeux"

November is definitely the month of great comebacks. A little more than a year after the remarkable release of his first album "Bunny", Lucill arrives with "Baisser les yeux", a new single accompanied by a music video. A nice introduction to his second album which will be released on February 25, 2022.

Lucill is back with a vengeance and sets the tone with this new song with folk-pop accents. With his muffled voice, the singer-songwriter offers a more organic and accomplished sound while surrounding himself with exceptional musicians carefully chosen according to the more live takes spirit of his next album.

Recorded for the most part at Pierre Marchand studio in Montreal, Lucill wrote the lyrics and music, then revealed himself in the role of a true conductor alongside co-producer Francis Mineau (Malajube) on drums, percussion and synthesizers, Jason Kent (The Dears, Kandle) on guitars, Lysandre Ménard (Lysandre, Klo Pelgag) on piano and synthesizers, Jay Essiambre (La Faune, Elisapie) on backing vocals, and David Marchand (Zouz, Mon Doux Saigneur) on pedal steel.

In the song, as in the false blue sky of the video, the artist from Chibougamau transports us into a "Truman Show" type universe: a nod to his hometown where Raphaël Bussières, his real name, felt out of place when everything seemed formatted.

And it is this awareness, this idea of moving away from a standardized way of life in order to become the one and only master of it, that inspired the lyrics of this new must-read song.

For Lucill, "Baisser les yeux" is truly "the desire to take your own path, to live your life as you see fit. It's this intuition in our head and body that we've had since we were little."
