About

Since his arrival on the scene at the turn of the last decade, Lary Kidd has left an indelible mark on Quebec rap thanks to his scathing verve and unabashed charisma. Both as part of the legendary group Loud Lary Ajust and as a solo artist, the Montreal rapper has collected punch lines with strong imagery and deft references that have left a lasting impression. His first solo effort, "Control" generated a lot of buzz when it was released in 2017 with its moody lyrics, incisive reflections and shattering beats, positioning Lary as the standard-bearer for a generation torn between stability and the intoxication of the night.

Built on sounds directly taken from the 90's and to which abundant samplings are added, Vulgaire démonstration d'ignorance, released on November 12th, lets hover around him a controlled blur. Without making any specific statement about what it's about, Lary Kidd will simply call a spade a spade and say about his latest effort: "these are rap songs". Smart. The brilliant rapper will be back on the road shortly to present the fruits of his latest efforts on stage.

Far from getting softer with time, the "young man" of Quebec rap was back at the top of his form in November 2019 with "Surhomme". Testifying to the path of the cross of Lary, this second solo project produced by his faithful acolytes Ajust and Ruffsound, flays in passing social injustices, inherent inequalities of everyday life and nonsense of the modern world. A cocktail of lucidity, arrogance and casualness as only Lary Kidd knows the recipe.

On May 14, 2021, Lary Kidd weighs in on "The Weight of Books". The artist signs a love letter to rap with a short album well put together and 100% assumed. Renewing with Ajust, the young man delivers five new tracks with an ambitious goal: to make a rap as pure as technical. Going back to the basics, without being basic. With a title more cryptic than it seems, we understand that the thing is wanted like that, in the allusion. The truth is often found in the space between the lines, standing on the table or elsewhere, anyway. And it is always dense.

In 2022, he unveils "Costco Freestyle", more obnoxious and incisive than ever. Madness borders on dangerous intelligence in this song, produced and set to music by Ajust.

Finally, he closes 2023 with "Speak White", plunging us back into his uncompromising universe: dark, abrasive, demanding and snowbound.
