JAY TREPANIER'S SOLO PROJECT TAKES ROOTS WITH "LA FORÊT"

Jay Trepanier, a well-known figure on the Outaouais music scene and member of the folk trio Leverage for Mountains for over ten years, today unveils his first solo project with the song “La forêt”. The release marks a significant step in the career of this passionate Gatineau-born artist, who is exploring French-language songwriting under his own name for the first time.

“La forêt” is the result of a creative process inspired by a place that has marked Jay's life. As part of the Un lieu, une œuvre series directed by Lévy Marquis, he chose to delve into his childhood memories, drawing inspiration from the Lac Beauchamps forest behind his parents' home. This forest, where he grew up, becomes the backdrop for a song imbued with melancholy and serenity, where nature plays a central role.

“La forêt” reveals a side of Jay Trepanier that few have yet had the opportunity to discover. The country-tinged folk song, carried by a simple, sincere melody, recalls such great figures of Quebec music as Kaïn, Vincent Vallières and even Daniel Bélanger, while at the same time following in the international footsteps of John Mayer, Zach Bryan and Noah Kahan.

With this first solo project, Jay Trepanier confirms his ability to touch audiences with disarming authenticity. “La forêt” is an invitation to reconnect with what is essential, through music that resonates deeply.
