About
Since his arrival on the scene, Lary Kidd has left an indelible mark on Quebec rap thanks to his scathing verve and unabashed charisma. Both as a member of the legendary group Loud Lary Ajust and as a solo artist, the Montreal rapper collects punch-lines with powerful imagery and deft references that have left a lasting impression. His first solo effort, “Contrôle”, was released in 2017 to much acclaim for its moody lyrics, incisive reflections and shattering rhythms.
Built on sounds taken directly from the '90s, with the addition of abundant sampling, Vulgaire démonstration d'ignorance, released on November 12, 2021, leaves a controlled vagueness hovering around it. Without making any specific statements, Lary Kidd is content to call a spade a spade and say of his latest effort: “these are rap songs”. Clever.
In 2022, he surprises with Costco Freestyle, more obnoxious and incisive than ever, where madness borders on dangerous intelligence.
Lary Kidd arrives in 2024 with a third album: Le cheval blanc de Napoléon. An opus of 11 hard-hitting new tracks, entirely produced by her accomplice Ajust. Although she's known for her more denunciatory and existential subjects, Lary offers listeners an escape on this highly technical (lyrically) and polished (production-wise and musically) project.
