LOUIS-ÉTIENNE SANTAIS PAYS TRIBUTE TO DEPECHE MODE THROUGH AN INTERPRETATION OF "ENJOY THE SILENCE"

After a first album launched in 2020 that accumulated more than 10 million listens on platforms, Louis-Étienne Santais returns with "Enjoy the Silence", offering a personal interpretation of the famous song by Depeche Mode, a band he admires.

The song by the legendary British band has been reimagined and rearranged by Louis-Étienne in a solo piano version. While the original work is danceable and rich in electronic sounds, Santais' version has been distilled to keep only its most fundamental elements. The melody remains but is supported by a new harmonization.

The sound recording was made very close to the piano hammers, so that the instrument's mechanisms could be heard. This creates a familiar and intimate sound.

This artistic gesture is also a humble tribute to keyboardist and Depeche Mode co-founder Andy Fletcher, who passed away last May. Fletcher's work has long been a great inspiration to the Quebec City-based composer.
